On August 9th, 2024 I performed a one-man, one-time-only macabre puppet show called Love After Death/Don’t Eat the Baby. (Sorry the video quality is not better)
Never foresaw myself being involved with puppetry, but I am now. I’ve been working with OffCenter’s Puppet Theater Group for the past two months. They put on a public performance usually every first Friday as part of the Albuquerque ArtWalk downtown. Here’s a link to the Sept. 6, 24 show:
In August, we performed a play written by a young woman with Autism, and I now it’s available online.
Here’s a newspaper article regarding the Puppet Theater Group: https://www.abqjournal.com/lifestyle/pulling-strings-puppet-theater-group-preps-for-september-show/article_b31b7b66-59be-11ef-ac6e-b75353a509c4.html
Check out my “Puppet Theater Props” tab for details on those.
I remember going to the First Annual Madrid, NM Film Festival in 2018 and being very impressed by a short film called The Love That Wouldn’t Die by Devon Hawkes Ludlow. It was done with small sets and puppets. That was seed for inspiration in some of my future filmmaking, as I typically make films by myself and don’t have actors to work with (other than my wife). So, my short films Thank You for Calling and Robot Toilet do have forms of puppetry in them. I can no longer find a video of Ludlow’s zombie musical The Love That Wouldn’t Die.
